the way she spent ten years building this identity and he just. unravels it in days. the power dynamic is insane, the tension between what hes asking and what shes hiding is absolutely suffocating in the best way. and that ending twist about the file, about him never actually staying out of it - that recontextualizes everything. she was never safe, just safer. the countdown wasnt metaphorical. devastating.
finished it last night and couldnt sleep. she gave him everything and he still got what he wanted from the start. the ending was perfect because it wasnt happy, it was honest. their whole dynamic built on lies but somehow by the end it feels like the only true thing either of them has. rereading it immediately

absolutely obsessed with how the countdown element made every scene feel urgent. normally i find billionaire romance predictable but this one kept me guessing about what he actually wanted from her. the compliance department joke in the blurb is perfect because it describes their entire relationship
